Woodcut entitled "The bite of Gianni Schicchi" is part of the drawings of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy commissioned by Salvador Dali from the Polygraphic Institute of the Italian State in 1950, to commemorate the 700th anniversary of the birth of the writer. The subsequent government contested the fact that the illustrations would be carried out by a foreign artist and collected the Commission. Dalì However, he continued his work for almost 9 years and made 100 watercolors who were exhibited in 1960 at the Musée Galliera in Paris. These watercolors are subsequently transposed to xylographs.
Here we have the precious edition of 1974 watermarked paper, published and packaged by the Rome ELDEC SpA, a copy 189/200, accompanied by the certificate of the author, the author's certificate, and the author's signature on xylography itself.
The measurements indicated in the product sheet refer to the external measurements of the frame. The mensions of the wooded surface are 25.5 / 18 cm. This piece has an attribution mark,
