As my wife and I were driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway north of Asheville NC, we could see through the trees a beautiful big red sun that was heading toward the horizon to end the day. We hurriedly looked for an opening, but we hit a construction delay of several minutes. When our long line of cars finally started moving, the opportunity seemed to be disappearing. Then we came across an opening, but there was hardly a place to pull over. We found a tiny spot, and I rushed out, planted my tripod, and snapped a picture just as the sun was setting. The result was striking.
