From his online biography: "Milton Moon was born in Melbourne in 1926. In 1949, after service in World War II, he settled in Brisbane where he worked in radio and television. He trained for a while as a painter but also pursued his interest in pottery, which arose through his friendship with potter Harry Memmott. In 1959 he set up a studio at Tarragindi, Brisbane. Milton was mostly self-taught but learnt wheel-throwing from Mervyn Feeney. As a tutor at the Department of Technical Education in Queensland (1962-1969) and the School of Art in Adelaide (1969-1975) he passed on these skills to many students. After retiring from teaching, he started potting full-time at Summertown in the Adelaide Hills.
Milton was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 1984 for ‘service to the ceramic art, particularly pottery’. He has studied in many countries, as a recipient of a foundation Winston Churchill Fellowship and also as a Myer Foundation Geijutsu Fellow. His work is in all major Australian Collections."
