About the artist
Utagawa Kuniaki II was a print artist and painter. Pupil of Utagawa Kunisada (q.v.); thought by some to be the same person as Hachisuka Kuniaki (q.v.). His father, Tatsunosuke, a minor samurai in the fourteenth division of castle guards. Produced actor and genre prints and paintings of beauties during the late Edo period. Also did Yokohama prints. less
