This beauty was inspired by a Wedgwood flared vase with an interior removable frog, or grid as Wedgwood calls it. In the case of this non-Wedgwood vase, the frog/grid is permanently affixed. Crafted from highly glazed earthenware in a gorgeous blush mocha hue, the reticulated lip’s pattern is that of alternating vesica and diamond cutouts, lovely! With a smooth pedestal base, the rest of the vase is done in a slender to wide linear ribbed pattern. The frog/grid has 13 openings for placement of stems. The center opening is larger than the others and it’s a real nifty feature for keeping the stems in place without having to worry about the frog shifting! In excellent condition with one minuscule chip at the very bottom of the base that is mostly indiscernible (see photos 2, 7, 11), which does not affect its beauty or utility. Given to me as a gift, origin or maker is unknown but it came my way in the early 1990s. It measures 10” high; top diameter 6¾”; base diameter 4¼”; weight 1 lb. 15 oz. Have absolutely enjoyed having this beauty but my new home is smaller with much less room to display many of my treasures. It's a fabulous piece for a style seeker or design enthusiast because every home deserves something with style and meaning without breaking the bank!
