Artist Biography
Alexi Stepanovitch (Alexie) Stepanov (1858 - 1923) was active/lived in Russian Federation. Alexi Stepanov is known for Genre scene painting, surveying.
Born in 1958 in Simferopol, Alexei Stepanovitch Stepanov grew up in an orphanage in Moscow from 1863 on after the death of his parents. From 1880 to 1884 he studied under Illarion Pryanischnikow, Vasily Polenov, and Yewgraf Sorokin at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. From 1899 on Stepanov held a professorship there and taught young painting students at the Moscow Academy until 1918.
