The chair is a design of the Italian architect and designer Michele de Lucchi (1951) for Memphis Milano, Italy 1983. The Memphis design group was initiated in 1981 by Ettore Sottsass. The most famous members of the Memphis Group were u.a. Michele de Lucchi, Martine Bedin, or Matteo Thun. Memphis created numerous, imaginative designs as a counter-reaction to the high-tech design of the 1970s. Geometric basic shapes such as cones, ball, or the cube were often combined with each other and combined with geometric plastic laminates and strong colors.
