The art of decoupage is gluing paper cut outs in combination with special effects paint, like gold leaf onto wood or glass, then applying several layers of varnish to get a polished finish. This art chinoiserie motif is decoupaged atop a thick, oversized piece of wood similar to the top of a farm table. Highlights of gold leaf are applied on top for added dimension. This oversized wall hanging was purchased in France and the age is unknown. One thing is for sure though, it is a one-of-a-kind statement piece! The piece is very heavy. See less
