This one is placed on … more A Chinese Canton porcelain baluster vase richly decorated with picturesque characters, animals, flowers and foliage. This one is placed on a wooden base.
The decoration in polychrome enamels is typical of the Mandarin style of the late 19th century.
This vase illustrates a scene of life with men and women with smiling faces, surrounded by birds, butterflies and flowers.
The whole is surrounded by a vivid, dense and luminous vegetal motif.
On the neck, handles in the shape of guardian lions known as Fô dogs and on the shoulders of Chilongs or chimeras adorn the vase.
With its cheerful decoration and its relief carvings enhanced with fine gold, this Cantonese vase will charm you with its poetry.
