Description: Very good condition item has been lacquered so has a few lacquered chips on it as it has pealed off … more Very good condition item has been lacquered so has a few lacquered chips on it as it has pealed off in a few places but that just added interest to me. This is to be expected due to age of the piece. If it bothers you is could be lightly sanded and left alone or it could be re lacquered with shiny or flat lacquer or you could spray another coat of either to keep from other spots from doing the same if you wanted but I don’t think it will do a lot more.. I believe there is gesso base.. not absolute sure on age but it is definitely old so this is an approximate guess it could be a little newer or older. This can go outside or inside over a fireplace would be great.. The estate it came from used it on their front door.. less
