One of the finest example of Chinese Satsuma ware we have seen made in China, for the export market to the West in the middle of the last century.
Hand painted scenes on the front and back portraying gentlemen and ladies gathered in a garden setting with mountains and a lake in the distance.
The lid and lower sections are painted with a profusion of colourful flowers against the most exquisite moriage background.
Gilded vine twist handles on each side.
Gilded lid handle/finial formed as bunches of grapes.
Stamp mark in red on the underside stating "Made in China, Satsuma".
Age: Mid-20th century.
Condition is excellent. Flawless original condition.
A fine piece that can be used as an decoative urn, center piece/tazza or simply as an ornament. When seen in person this is a stunning piece.
