This is the perfect rug for those who dream of a light colored rug but are also scared to death of a light colored rug (kids, pets...we hear you). Handmade from very rare 100% all natural, hand-spun wool, this beauty is so luxurious and forgiving with its nuance of natural wool tones and mix of pile and kilim flat woven squares in checker board pattern. This rug is made from a rare type of wool that is cut from the neck of the sheep as oppose to the body which gives it its unique variegated cool beige color. This type of wool is very difficult to find in Morocco, which makes this rug very special. Using hand-spun wool adds several additional weeks of labor onto the rug making process as each strand of yarn used in the rug pile and weft is spun by hand as oppose to by machine. For this reason, they are incredibly durable and of the highest quality textiles you can find anywhere. This rug is silky and soft, with the luxurious look and texture of a high pile shag rug, but with the practicality of a shorter pile rug. Great for High traffic areas. Natural cool Beige / light tan wool with champagne and taupe tones mixed in. Perfect for a minimal monochrome look without losing any texture or statement. Not a boring rug!

Our rugs are made by the talented Amazigh (Berber) artists we partner with in Morocco. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to connect with these women to supply them with everything they need for production and ensure they are paid fairly. They no longer have to wait for middle-man merchants to pass through their villages offering to buy rugs at too low cost to then resell to larger rug houses in the major cities across Morocco. Most of the women we work with weave at home while others work in local collectives with other weavers together. It is a beautiful community of sisterhood and shared experience gathered around craft. These rugs are handmade utilizing the same traditional construction they have been made for hundreds of years. By purchasing a newly constructed rug from OUIVE you are supporting fair pay and keeping the traditions of handmaking rugs alive as a viable way to earn a living so that these traditions can be passed on through the next generation less
