Whimsical textured relief painting of two stylized twin jesters in primary colors, their long mask-like faces created with the technique of hand carving layers of laminated paper board and painting with acrylic, by contemporary English artist Martin Ingley (English, b.1953). Titled "Fools" lower left and signed in pencil "M.R. Ingley" lower right. Displayed in an off-white mat and light wood frame with plexiglass. Artist's tag on verso authenticating, "This is an original painting by Martin Ingley", with artist's contact information. Image size: 6.75"H x 2.5"W.
Martin Ingley was born in Somerset in 1953 and studied art at Oxford Polytechnic and Maidstone College of Art. His work has been exhibited widely in England and Europe since the 1980s. His unique pieces are hand carved from layers of laminated paper board and painted with acrylic, and focus on color, form, and texture. Martin has also worked as an illustrator for such magazines as The Listener and Radio 3 Magazine as well as Wiedenfeld Publishing and various trade and computer magazines.
