This Vincent Van Gogh rare vintage 1952 Postimpressionist lithograph print " The Orchard " 1888, is a very special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The color lithograph print is published by Harry N. Abrams Inc. Publishers New York, printed in The United States in 1952 in an unnumbered limited edition. It is a page from a portfolio of Van Gogh lithograph prints. It features an artwork image originally created by Van Gogh in 1888 titled " The Orchard ".
Vincent Van Gogh ( 1853 - 1890 ) was a Dutch born Postimpressionist painter who is among the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western Art.
Van Gogh painted at least 15 paintings of olive trees, mostly in Sant Remy De Provence France in 1888 and 1889. The olive tree paintings has special significance for him. These paintings represent life, the divine and the cycle of life, and attempt to symbolize his feelings about spirituality. They are also an example for him of how individuals, through their interaction with nature, can connect with the divine.
Van Gogh found respite and relief in interaction with nature. When the series of olive tree paintings were created he was subject to illness and emotional turmoil, yet the paintings are widely considered to be among his finest works.
The rare out of print Postimpressionist lithograph print plate image is attached to the page with a method called " tipping " where it is attached to the page by hand on the top edge. The print plate image measures 9 7/8" W X 7 7/8" H, on a page backing that is 12 3/4" W X 9 1/2" H. There is unrelated text on the reverse back side of the page that refers to a different artwork image.
It is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age and light signs of handling to the page backing. It has never been framed. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price. less
