Really nice vintage hand made lined storage box or small chest by Furniture Classics Ltd. This Chinoiserie style item is totally original with engraved brass fittings and working Chinese style lock still in place..
Impressive hand painted scenes in gold throughout. The top with the traditional opposing dragons amongst the clouds battling for the flaming pearl. The sides each with a flying red crane. All the scenes are auspicious and very well executed, framed by scrolled borders.
The inside is lined with faux Chinese calligraphy news print.
An altogether practicle and useful work of art. Super piece for a desk or dresser.
On the underside is a factory plaque which states "Hand Made by Furniture Classics, Ltd., Maker of fine Furniture" Norfolk, VA.
Condition is very good. Has some complimentary minor signs of age including surface tarnish to the brass fittings.
Age: 1960s.
