I believe the body is made of black bakelite … more Here is a fantastic, original 1937 Western Electric telephone, Model 302. I believe the body is made of black bakelite and the inside has a heat, metal base. This Pre War model was the first Western Electric telephone to be designed without a subset or outside ringer. It has the original F1 Bakelite handset imprinted “Bell System made by Western Electric F1” and the original brown, textile covered wires. I purchased this phone from a collector and took it right from the wall. I believe it to be in perfect working order. less
