Signed in … Read more Original abstract surrealist 1974 Miro lithograph from a series of 1,500 printed on Guarra paper by Poligrafa Barcelona. Signed in the stone at lower right. This piece is titled Escultor Italy, or Sculpture Italy, or Sculptor Italy, dependant on what language you chose to reference. There were 6 other surrealist works by Miro in his 1974 Escultor series, all representing different countries. In addition to this edition, there was an edition of only 100 pieces which were hand signed in pencil rather than signed in the printing stone.

This piece is in its original period framing with framer's label on verso, APF from New York City. The metal frame appears chrome on the front, and light brass on its sides. Double matted with a cream linen mat on top of a russet board mat. The litho is mounted on top of a white ground mat so that the entire piece is visible. Piece alone measures 20cm x 40cm.

We note age appropriate light wear to the frame, some minor foxing on the work and the mat and on the reverse foamcore board, as well as a fine line of age toning around the perimeter of the piece. Under acrylic which does have some surface scratching mostly around the mat areas rather than over the work. Work shows a bit of waviness around its edges due to the tip mounting style that was used. You may chose to reframe with all new acid free materials and glass, or hang and enjoy as is in its period presentation.
