This is a mercury glass candle holder with an antique iron pickaxe base. The mercury glass is positioned on the pick axe with its own base of birch veneer and a weathered worm-gear clamp.

The solid iron pickaxe was recovered from an old barn in North Carolina built in the 1800s and was purchased this year from an antique curator. Its years of wear and exposure to the elements have instilled it with the industrial charm that makes this piece of decor truly unique.

All rust-worn parts have been protected with a "dead flat" varnish to prevent corrosion while preserving a patina that was decades in the making. Complement it with a flameless candle or fairy lights for a beautiful, rustic ambiance.
