This Andy Warhol Estate rare vintage 1990 Pop Art custom framed iconic offset lithograph print " Myths : The Star / Greta Garbo " 1981, is an a very special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The offset lithograph print is published by Te Neues Publishing Company with the authorized licensed rights of The Estate and Foundation for Visual Arts of Andy Warhol, printed in Germany in 1990 in an unnumbered limited edition. It features an iconic portrait artwork image originally created by Warhol 1981 titled " Myths : The Star / Greta Garbo ".
This is a rare opportunity for true Andy Warhol and Greta Garbo fans and collectors both as this coveted image Pop Art print is long out of print and very scarce to find. The official " AW " Foundation seal of authenticity is printed on the print.
Andy Warhol ( 1928 - 1987 ) is one of the singularly most well known Contemporary artists of all time. His imagery is recognized worldwide. His infamous life, artworks, and creative endeavors are like no other artist. He is credited as the very first artist to use common everyday objects and view them in a completely different way while paying homage to their role in our society. Glorifying the common as the beautiful. His technique utilizing a silkscreen method combined with hand finishing in a signature palette of vibrant color hues make the work stand on its own and loved by millions.
" The Star " is part of Andy Warhol's 1981 " Myths " series, which depicts the legendary Hollywood actress Greta Garbo ( 1905 - 1990 ) in her role as Mata Hari in the 1931 movie of the same title. The image is based on a photograph of the Swedish actress in costume for her lead role, the true story of a Dutch dancer and courtesan, who was executed after being convicted of charges of being a spy during the first World War. Warhol was a great cinephile and has drawn illustrations of Garbo in the 1950's, and is even said to have modeled his public persona on the reclusive film star.
The rare out of print framed offset lithograph Pop Art print measures 13 1/2" W X 17" H X 1" D. It is custom framed with glass in a Contemporary Modern navy marine blue matte eggshell finish wood frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent " like new " condition. The print is in excellent " like new " very clean condition with light signs of handling. It is brand newly custom framed and has never been displayed. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price. less
