He was a philanthropist as well as a merchant. He was also a yachtsman - looking the part in this portrait - who lost 5 straight America's Cup matches. (You can't win them all?) His chromolithograph portrait was rendered by the most famous Vanity Fair artist, Sir Matthew Leslie Ward, aka "Spy", for the September 19, 1901 issue of Vanity Fair.. Matted in a 16" x 20" pH neutral mat for ease of framing in a readymade frame, this print is in excellent condition with a few nicks to the outside edges of the page, as pictured. less
