Excerpt from “Artists in California” by Edan Milton Hughes: CURRIER, Cyrus Bates (1868-1946). Illustrator, painter. Born in Marietta, OH on Dec. 13, 1868. Currier studied in Paris at Academie Julian and with Mucha, Bouguereau and Constant. He settled in Los Angeles about 1919 and lived there until his death Sept. 27, 1946. Member: Salmagundi Club ¶ AAA 1919-33; WWAA 1938-47; Fld; SCA.
