This attractive wall panel was produced in Jiangsu province, around the end of the Qing dynasty and was originally made as one of a few internal window panels that would have opened out into the inner courtyard of a Chinese home.
The intricate sections are carved from camphor wood, a material ideal for carving and the frame is made from fir, with the lattice section made up of individual lengths of wood. Each section is fitted together with mortise and tenon joints and interspersed with pretty carved flowers.
Perfect today as a beautiful, decorative panel, with a stunning lattice design and carvings, that will cast interesting shadows when hung on a wall.
