Gorgeous Banjara textile from western India, dates to 1930-1940s.
The Banjara are a nomadic tribe from the western states of Gujarat & Rajasthan. They are famous for their textile art, which is incorporated into their clothes and everyday articles. Textiles such as this were used as bedspreads and wall hangings.
This is handmade and vintage. A few small mirrors are missing, however nothing that detracts from the beauty of this item. Small signs of use such as this are expected from authentic items of this age.
A new lining has been added behind the textile for support and to allow its multipurpose use.
