Description: We are selling this fine quality oil on canvas painting. This small painting shows the ends of a battle for … more We are selling this fine quality oil on canvas painting. This small painting shows the ends of a battle for a ship that has wrecked on the shore as soldiers fire upon it and wheel cannons to attack. The back of the canvas has a very old Gallery label attributing the painting to John Thomas Serres R.A., English (1759-1825). The label identifies the scene as British naval patrols fighting pirates in the Barbary Sea and says it is signed. The painting was poorly reframed and we haven't examined it outside the frame to see if it is indeed signed. Serres eventually became the Maritime painter to the King of England.

Condition: Painting is in very good restored condition, frame is very poor modern job.
