This fixture is rewired to meet US electrical standards and takes ten candelabra light bulbs. Each light bulb can use up to a maximum of sixty watts. We recommend using LED lights because they help preserve the antique fixture longer. Antique chandeliers/fixtures may have to be adapted to modern houses. Please check with your electrician or contractor for additional specifics on installing antique chandeliers/fixtures. It requires a canopy and chain that are not included. There are some inconspicuous areas of wear on the gilt. The puce-colored crystals are a dark purple-brown or brownish-purple hue. The frame is bronze but the extensions holding crystal pendeloques are thin brass that can snap off if the chandelier is handled improperly. Doré (gilt bronze or brass) is a technique that leaves a layer of gold on bronze and brass. It became popular in 18th-century France. Bronze and brass coated with gold was cheaper and stronger than solid gold but retained the opulent bright golden exterior that was desired during that time. The chandelier is draped with classic teardrop crystal pendeloques and features a center crystal spear and a large faceted, crystal ball drop. Sprinkles of puce-colored colored crystals on the top and bottom add an element of surprise and interest. Having ten lights, it offers substantial illumination and elegance. This chandelier will work well in a traditional or modern home. less
