Description: The Saturn is a classic design by the Danish manufacturer Fog & Mørup after a design by Jo Hammerborg circa … more The Saturn is a classic design by the Danish manufacturer Fog & Mørup after a design by Jo Hammerborg circa 1950. Here an early version from the production between 1957 and 1963. It has a very simple and symmetrical design.

Particularly striking is the contrast between copper and matte black. The copper-colored luminaire body features a wide dimming or reflector ring in the middle. The ring directs the light on the outside of the lamp body and lets the copper shine. This piece directs light straight up and down which is then scattered by a fluted diffuser disk. The interior of the slats and the bars are colored orange and are not noticeable in the copper of the lamp.

A special detail is the brass sleeve through which the textile cable leads into the luminaire which a clever solution to a common problem that does justice to the high quality and the materiality of the entire luminaire. This detail identifies this luminaire as an early exemplar until 1963. Later, this sleeve was executed black.
