a rich canon of graphic markings defines the elements series of lead crystal. Cuts and textures of varying depth and intensity are employed across glasses to create a landscape of layered pattern that is fresh and seductive; a whole new take on the decoration of cut crystal. The beauty of the elements series is that each glass is a desirable object but combined, the mixture of designs becomes a very individual collection. Scholten & baijings have acted like a conductor, building up layers of pattern as though they were sound, and the result is a visual symphony.
each glass in j. Hill’s standard elements series has a different design, freeing you to create collections that are matching or mixed, restrained or exuberant. The glass sizes suit a multitude of uses, and an elegant carafe and jug complete the series. The collection includes wine glasses, hi-balls, whiskey tumblers, short glasses, champagne and cocktails glasses, and a decanter and jug. This is the champagne glass in cut number one of six.
scholten & baijings stefan scholten (1972) and carole baijings (1973) launched scholten & baijings studio for design in 2000. In recent years they have established themselves as one of the most celebrated and successful international design practices, achieving both critical acclaim and successful commercial designs. Scholten & baijings’s work frequently combines minimal forms and a characteristic use of color with both traditional craft techniques and industrial production. J. Hill’s standard j. Hill’s standard is a maker of contemporary cut crystal, crafted by hand using knowledge and skill passed down through generations of craftsmen. imprinted by maker, imprinted by maker less
