The structure is made from metal with a faux wood paint, the backrest and the seat are made from solid oak. They were part of the decoration of the Sick Children's Hospital in Paris (Hopital des enfants malades de Paris) furnished and decorated by Albert Armand Rateau, the famous French designer. It is not clear if the chairs were designed by A. A. Rateau but it is agreed that he at least chose them for that hospital in 1929. They are documented in his monograph pages 179 and 180. less
