The work is a beautiful tempera on paper but is enriched with strokes of gouache. The work is beautiful in his semplicity and clearness and the urban landscape is characterized by clear strokes of tempera. The work has been realized by Carlo Bossoli (Davesco-Soragno, 1815 - Turin, 1884 ) who was a Swiss-born Italian painter and scenographer. He lived in Lugano, then he moved to Odessa in Russia where he learned the art of drawing. Princess Woronzow, who was in Odessa, called Bossoli because she wanted to see the artist's abilities, being impressed. Thanks to this, Bossoli was able to move to Italy in 1839, to refine his preparation. He achieved international fame with his paintings reminiscent of the Risorgimento battles. Prince Eugene of Savoy commissioned him the famous 105 temperas dedicated to the war of the years 1859, 1860 and 1861, which can still be seen in the Museum of Risorgimento in Turin.
