Original … more Neapolitan Hinterland is an original modern artwork realized in the first years of the XX Century by Romolo Leone. Original mixed media on cardboard. Hand-signed on the lower right corner: Romolo Leone. Gilded wood frame is included. Mint conditions. Impressionistic Mixed media artwork representing a Neapolitan landscape scene. In the foreground we see the branches of big dark trees and a wide road towards the city center. Along the way, some figures and a small gig are sketched. In the background we see buildings that stand out against the sky over a rocky landscape. The trait is impressionistic and fresh. This work has been realized by Romolo Leone (Neaples, 1883 - Neaples, 1958) a Neapolitan artist and painter. Leone was a pupil of Giuseppe Casciaro, he will remain very influented on a stylistic level, a feature that will emerge throughout his pictorial career. In 1927, again in the wake of Casciaro, he joined the Flegreo Group, a movement born with the aim to promote Neapolitan art in Italy and abroad, organizing and promoting collective exhibitions. He lived for years in Paris, but he still remained a landscape painter and his main themes were country houses and crowded city streets. He was present at important exhibitions: the Promotrice di Napoli in 1922, and in Turin in various exhibitions from 1928 to 1935. This artwork is shipped from Italy. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago by an artist who has died requires a licence for export regardless of the work’s market price. The shipping may require additional handling days to require the licence according to the final destination of the artwork. less
