Original mixed … more Study for a crucifixion is an original contemporary artwork realized by the italian artist antonio vangelli in 1980. Original mixed media and oil painting on canvas. Hand-signed on the lower central corner by the artist: vangelli. Hand-signed, titled and dated on the back of the canvas: vangelli, ''studio di crocifissione'' 1980. Mint conditions. Excellent work on canvas depicting a study for a crucifixion of christ. This study for a crucifixion (original italian title ''studio di crocifissione'') has been realized by the artist with lively colors and depicts a huge cross on the center of the composition with severale figures on the right and on the left. On the upper side, we can see a spot of black and, around the cross, several deep blue spokes that allude to the sky. This beautiful work has been realized by antonio vangelli (rome, 1917 - rome, 2003), an italian painter and artist. Under his father and his brothers, he began his career in painting in 1938. In 1943, he took part to the iv quadrenniale of national art at palazzo delle esposizioni in rome. He matured in the ''roman school'' from 1943 together with the painters giulio turcato and emilio vedova. His exhibition activity began in 1943 with his participation in the iv quadrenniale of national art. In 1948 he was present at the v quadrenniale of the national gallery of modern art in rome for the ''national review of figurative arts''. In 1953, he exhibited in rome at palazzo venezia for the marzotto prize. In 1961, he exhibited at the ''le jardin des arts'' art gallery in rome; in 1965, he was present at the ix national quadrenniale of art in rome at the palazzo delle esposizioni. ''antonio vangelli's painting has always seemed to be touched by this particular kind of grace: a perennial research for the visual and musical accord between signs and colors, between ringing notes and more restful peaceful traits, between nervous thrills of the pictorial gesture and great quiet''. less
