This low rattan armchair can be dated from the 50s.
This is probably a Dutch model, manufactured in the Frisian town of Noordwolde, known for its production of cane in the 1940s and 1950s.
Rattan was a popular material used after World War II, as the metal and wood were scarce and often too expensive. Rattan was a rewarding material for making light furniture, comfortable and affordable.
