Limited edition of 12 pieces Variations possible on demand The city of Pantin wanted to rejuvenate the look of its wedding venue with contemporary furniture while underlining the great neo-renaissance decor of the building. The furniture have been imagined as a continuity of the beautiful mural depicting women and children bathing in a lake surrounded by greenery. Atelier Sauvage chose to create solid sycamore pieces of furniture with deliberately sober lines and to let the color from the painting spread in n the room, bridging the gap between the 19th century aesthetic of the decor and the furniture’s contemporary take. Albane Salmon Her aesthetics is nurtured by the random effects of natural phenomenons such as erosion and natural wear of materials exposed to the elements. She also explores the poetry that lies in the slight imbalance and irregularities provided by the human eye and gesture. As a trained cabinet-maker, Albane works primarily with wood and builds herself each of her designs. She favors asymmetrical shapes that result from freehand drawings and avoids using jigs and gauges. Albane Salmon also likes to retort to contrasting textures, colors and treatments that both highlight and alter the qualities of wood and act like a trompe l’oeil. The viewers are led to question their senses and to wonder about the nature and the unity of the material used. Besides creating one-of a kind and small series of objects and furniture, Albane Salmon works on commissioned projects such as custom solid wood furniture and installations.
