As scenes representing fragments of reality, his pictures have a distinctive realistic flavour. But when glanced at furtively, even occasionally as a voyeur, the true nature of the pictures are not far from the representation of an instant casually seized. On the contrary, they show instantly searched for backgrounds where the revealing eye of the photographer is forbidden and where keeping away from the public eye is paramount. So Juan Carlos Martínez´s images deal with the vague boundaries of what can be represented, masculine identity and even with the most controversial issue of the boundaries of one´s look in relation to someone else's privacy.
