Plants, fruits and flowers surround an ewer, a vase and a basket adorned with ribbons. This pattern is made after two of the greatest commodes created by the Louis XVI cabinet-maker, Jean-Henri Riesener (1734-1806). Starting from 1775, several versions of these commodes exist and examples are visible in Versailles and the Condé Museum in Chantilly. These designs became very popular and were finely copied win the 1930s by the workshop of the cabinet-maker Pierre Rosenau. A molded giltwood frame underline the marquetry panel’s refinement. Work from the 19th century. Sources : RAMOND, Pierre. La Marqueterie, Dourdan, Editions H.Vial, 1998, p123. This piece is designed in the style of the selected designer and/or manufacturer less
