The Zelig floor lamp was designed by Walter Monici for Lumina. The lamp consists of two single arms and a counterweight, in total harmony with mobility and perfect balance. While researching for alternative innovative functions previously deemed impossible to achieve, an original idea was patented by Walter Monici, based on the continuous connection between the upper arm of the lamp and the counterweight on the other extremity of the first arm in concert with two pulleys and a steel cable. The result is a total and incredible mobility which allows Zelig to move from a closed position requiring the same space of the base, to a completely open position with more than one-meter scope.
The head takes a 50W halogen lamp controlled by a bi-power or a dimmer switch and moving on a double rotation axis to allow precise positioning of the light beam. As a result of this articulated structure of the lamp holder and of the two arms, it is possible to obtain many totally different visual effects and perspectives, sometimes classic and understated and sometimes personal and geometric. In regards to the different possible finishes, Zelig blends with extreme ease in all settings and highlights the style of the furniture. These features are even more evident in its floor version where the larger distance between the arms and the base allow the lamp to sketch its line with an increased expressive definition. Zelig is an unmistakable presence thanks to its technical and functional aspects, and for its fluid and elegant profile and has achieved a reference role in the history of industrial design in counterweight lamps.
