This bitossi ''birch'' lamp features a ceramic base with a rough surface in an off-white glaze in the middle and bands of shiny metallic gold glaze at the top and bottom. The textured white band is reminiscent of birch bark. Bitossi, italy, circa 1960s. With a special new custom made silk lampshades by rené houben. With warm gold inner-shade. Approximate dimensions: lamp 1 ceramic only h 15.2'' (38.5 cm) x ø 5.1'' (13 cm) at base height to top of lamp-holder circa 34 ''( 86 cm). Lamp 1 ceramic only h 10.6'' ( 27 cm) x ø 4.3'' ( 11 cm) at base height to top of lamp-holder circa 24.2 ''( 61.5 cm). The pair is in perfect vintage condition.the lamp is offered with shade. René houben is a renowned dutch light designer. René has been designing unique lampshades for more than 25 years. From colorful and exuberant to modest. For every extraordinary lamp base (carefully selected antique and vintage items), he designs an applicable shade. His custom made creations are unique because of his interesting use of form and color. They also stand out because of their indirect, soothing and intimate light. Houben is well known and loved by interior designers and decorators all-over europe. Italian-made ceramics have a rich and notable background, and—as any midcentury enthusiast or collector may know—some of the most notable work is that of the company bitossi ceramiche.
