Museum worthy children set.
here we have a good example of an in-between piece of children furniture. It's amsterdamse school but not exactly - it's new rationalism but not yet - de stijl but too art deco. The set comes out of a private collection of the rich family kloosterboer in groningen (north of holland). The lived in a big house which was build by the architect egbert reitsma. This architect also worked with the colorschemes black/red/green just like this set. Up till now i don't have written proof it was made by him but it was, in those days, very common that the architects also designed furniture for the houses they made and mostly custom made.
egbert reitsma was working in the so called ''verstrakte'' amsterdamse school stijl. It is also called the delftse school which is mostly done with sober brick structure and high ''triangled'' roofs. The brick wall mostly are ingeniously constructed with sober forms. The colorscheme of the set is a typical de stijl color. The same colors were used by vilmos huszar. To me this set is more related to the de stijl / haagse school because of the simple linings combined with a relatively bright colorscheme. The only thing that refers (more or less) to the amsterdamse school are the cascade forms of the legs of the table. You can also see these cascade forms in the early furniture of frits spanjaard
conclusion: to my opinion the set was made by frits spanjaard for lov oosterbeek or custom made by egbert reitsma.
