Beautiful oil on canvas, anonymous, very nice hand, performed at the prestigious school of Barbizon.
There are a mother and child walking on a road lined with long and big bare trees, branches cut, hastening to return to their homes under a gray and cloudy sky presaging rain.
The frame is of Louis Philippe and completely restored with gold leaf.
Dating: XIXth

It is in Barbizon, a small village on the edge of the forest of Fontainebleau, was going to flourish in the nineteenth century a new art primarily in France: The landscape.
Some of the most important features of the Barbizon school of painters are its tonal qualities, color, loose brush and shape softness.
Barbizon style retains a realistic style, but with a slightly romantic intonation, characterized by their almost exclusive specialization in the landscape and their direct study of nature.
This will influence the rest of the French 19th century painting, especially impressionism. Artists generally take their notes on the outside to perform their latest work in their studies.
They gave up the scenic picture of life in the countryside and began to analyze the nature and representation critically. This observation of the natural product of emotional effects on the soul of the painter, so its landscapes acquire sensitive enough dramatic quality.
Instead of the images to historical themes, religious or mythological required by the classical canon, school officials have painted Barbizon landscapes of various formats.
The characteristic of the school was the shift to a realistic representation of nature unlike the conventional composition of idealistic landscape. This new vision of the intimate landscape, which already led to Impressionism, became the hallmark of the combined group of artists.
These are the Barbizon painters yet resolutely turned towards nature and reality, which finally freed the landscape paralyzing academic conventions and gave it an unprecedented impetus in French art.

- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
