Original oil on canvas. Dimensions: 50 x 40 cm. Original 19th Century gilded and lacquered frame. Good conditions. Samson is a hero of prodigious strength, granted directly by God. His exploits are extraordinary, but they are only a step towards liberation from the Philistines. It is not excluded that originally it could have been a semi-divine mythical figure, given that his name is connected with the Sun. This thesis, very widespread in the nineteenth century, now meets less academic approval than in the past. The work has been realized by the Italian artist Luchino Visconti (Milan, 1906 - Rome, 1976). In the early Parisian years, Visconti frequented Picasso, Braque, Salvador Dalí. The whole subsequent career as a director will be marked by the evident and profound link with the visual arts. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
