- This wonderful cabinet hails from Gansu in western China, the style is typical of the region, with an extended top … more This wonderful cabinet hails from Gansu in western China, the style is typical of the region, with an extended top surface over thick pine frames. The paintings show houses and figures, which are original, now in faded black and red, but still visible against the dark cream lacquer. Originally the interior of the cabinet would have been accessible only via the two central doors the fixed panels either side have been converted into extra doors for practicality. The hardware is new but in keeping with the style of the original handles and hinges. less
