An impressive Chinoiserie bureau bookcase on a red background, the carcass itself 18th Century but lacquered in the early 20th … Read more An impressive Chinoiserie bureau bookcase on a red background, the carcass itself 18th Century but lacquered in the early 20th Century, having a pierced fret swan neck pediment with decorative floral petraeus, nice shaped moulded cornice with dentil moulding, the top section having two astragal glazed doors with three shelves inside, the middle shelf fixed and the other two adjustable replacement glass shelves, the fall opening to reveal a superb fitted interior with various drawers, compartments and a well, the base section having a selection of five graduated, oak lined drawers with brass plate handles and escutcheons, standing on bracket feet. The front, sides and inside of the bureau and bookcase lacquered depicting Chinese countryside scenes, lovely quality and in excellent condition. Circa 1920. See less
