Series of four chairs, design Roland Haeusler, for the residence "La Cascade" of the famous ski resort Les Arcs in Savoie.
The chairs rest on four legs of rectangular section connected between them by two lateral amounts and a central strut. The seat is made of two wooden boards convex towards the center.
The chairs have the top of the back slightly inclined towards the back and constituted by two horizontal crosspieces slightly rounded to fit the shape of the back, supported by two lateral uprights.Work done in the 1960's.
Chairs from the furniture of the residence "La Cascade" of the Savoyard ski resort Les Arcs, in the village resort Les Arcs 1600.
The creation of the ski resort Les Arcs is the result of the meeting between the city councilor of Bourg-Saint-Maurice, Robert Blanc, and the real estate developer Roger Godino, who called several urban planners and architects to participate in the project, including Charlotte Perriand who will work on this project for 20 years from 1967. The first historic site, Les Arcs 1600, was inaugurated in 1968, and was mainly made up of private residences. In 1974, Les Arcs 1800 was created and this time it was mainly for rental. These residences reflect the convictions of the architect who wishes to be at one with nature, forgetting cars, the vis-à-vis between housing and installing large windows and balconies to be at one with the landscape. These projects also allow the architect to deepen his research on collective housing and interior design: everything is designed to be functional, modular to adapt to small spaces and the furniture is standardized, in accordance with local materials. less
