Metaphysical Composition by Erberto Carboni is a photographic print on high quality single coated paper (baryta layer). On front there are four faint pencil lines that divide the photographed subject from the background, realized for image framing. On back name of arist handwritten in pencil. Print from big size negative, exeptional brightness and contrast toning, excellent conditions Dim: cm 23 x 17,5 In the photograph there is a composition of static elements, gathered to form a sculpture that looks like a single body. This photo was certainly born during the collaboration between Erberto Carboni and Antonio Boggeri's photographic studio. There are clear elements of reference to surrealist and metaphysical painting, such as the mannequin (De Chirico) transformed into a living musical instrument (Man Ray), the references to classical sculpture and the geometry of squares, curvilinear and lines used with masterful proportions between them. The expressive formality detached from an external context, of which we have no information other than the texture of the fabric that forms the background. Erberto Carboni (1899 - 1984) was an Italian architect, photographer, designer and advertiser active from the 30s of the twentieth century. From the immediate postwar period he was a collaborator of illustrious names, such as Antonio Boggeri,Bruno Munari and Castiglioni Brothers and worked for important Italian companies, also creating famous commercials still used. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
