It is a companion to an exhibit held in April, 2012 at the Sperone Westwater gallery, New York.. The 60-page catalogue displays, in color ,a range of his absorbing, eclectic work. Shelton boldly signed an inscription, opposite the title page. It is worth noting he signed on 12/12/12 (after the exhibit). The Gallery described Shelton's "corporeal and architectural works from 1989 to the present" as "both abstract and referential. Their materiality and subject matter elicit a physical, emotional, and psychic engagement – making the visual experience tactile and tangible.The sculptures are included in Shelton's "things that get wet" series, 1989-1994. This striking catalogue, in dust jacket, is in excellent condition. Under the jacket, the boards are bright red cloth - there is nothing on the spine. Shelton is an award-winning sculptor, whose works have been exhibited nationally and internationally. The book lists his exhibitions, commissions and extensive bibliography (as of 2012) in the final pages. Some of his sculptures are online and some are priced in the high five figures. This is a rare gem of an art book -not only a rare signature but a close-up view of the striking minimalist, emotion-invoking, singular works. Another book likely to grow in value.
