Description: Bronze with a brown patina and discreet golden reflections signed "Coustou" on the terrace, taking as its theme one of … more Bronze with a brown patina and discreet golden reflections signed "Coustou" on the terrace, taking as its theme one of the horses of Marly.
The original work is a Carrara marble statue dating from the 18th century, which decorated the drinking troughs of the Château de Marly, and which can be admired today in the Louvre Museum.
The scene shows a stallion rearing up, held back with difficulty by a groom. The artist was able to transcribe with precision the nervous state of the animal, and the wild strength of its posture. The fineness of the physiognomic details of the horse and the man sculpted here should be noted: the mane in the wind, the bandaged muscles, the fight that they both seem to be engaged in.
An ode to the wild beauty of the horse, this bronze sculpture will delight animal lovers. You will undoubtedly be charmed by its vitality and realism.
