Berndt Friberg (1899-1981), Sweden’s master potter, was originally employed as a thrower to Wilhelm Kåge and Stig Lindberg at Gustavsberg’s pottery. He applied his characteristic glazes painstakingly to achieve structure and depth. Friberg was known to be a perfectionist and destroyed all pieces which didn't measure up to his standards. This earned him the nickname "Hands of God". His rabbit's or hare fur glazes became legendary, inspired by Chinese and Japanese glazes. His work was honored by many awards.
