The artwork belongs to the famous series ''Los Desastres de la Guerra'' realized during the years of the Independence Spanish War and published for the first time in 1863 and representing the horrors and the despair of the War. Numbered on the upper left corner. Etching N. 68. Good conditions except for a smal rip on the lower left corner. A friar is preparing to defecate after eating, as the spoon of his right hand denotes; he looks on the right, in the direction of a group of masks near a urinal; on the left, we can see a disordered pile of devout prints (a Virgin, the miraculous apparition of another), ex voto of wax and real (for example, trousers near a crutch), a mannequin with female clothes. In the background, in the shadows, other friars are in procession. This plate criticizes the atavistic religious habits of the Ancien Régime; the friar lives as a lord thanks to the ignorance of the gullible and superstitious believers (the ex voto and the images on the right) and to the manipulation (the masks) that the clerics make of these characteristics of the People. This artwork is shipped from Italy. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago by an artist who has died requires a licence for export regardless of the work’s market price. Orders where Free Local Pickup or Seller Managed Local Delivery were selected:
- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
- Once you have taken possession of the item, all sales are final
- International, cross-border returns may require different processes depending on the countries between which the item is shipping to/from, and the buyer is responsible and duties (if applicable, on cross-border orders).
- On approved returns, the buyer is responsible for the full cost of return packing and shipping.
Cancellations

- Chairish Express In-Home deliveries are currently only offered for international cross-border shipments.

- Deliveries can take anywhere from 6 to 9 weeks to be delivered.
- Chairish Freight Delivery
- Delivered in a crate, to your front door.
- You will need tools and/or equipment to open the crate.

- Chairish Freight deliveries can take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks.
