Hanna Bakula was born in 1950, she is a Polish painter and writer. She studied Fine arts in Warsaw and graduated in 1974. She continued her thesis on the suburban culture, for which she was awarded by the Ministry of Culture and Art. During the 80's, she stayed in USA were she worked as stage and costume designer for "The Kitchen" theater in New York. She received a grant from the Guggenheim Museum. She continued her stage designing activity once she came back to Poland for the "Carmen" Opera at Teatr Wielki, Warsaw, and still lives there today. Her work is a lot like illustration, she draws inspiration from theater and opera mainly Carmen. However, the artist likes to explore various topics depending on her brainwaves, in a unique universe.
