She was employed at Michael Andersen and Son from 1955 and was educated at the School of Fine Arts in Hamburg where she also became a prominent figure. The vase is signed with Starck's initials (MS), and is stamped with the crest of Michael Andersen & Son. It was produced in the early 1960s.
